b. Initial allowances for maintenance float items (recoverability codes F, H, and D) for FMF and
appropriate post and stations are as furnished by initial issue actions. Changes to maintenance replacement rates
resulting from actual use may require recomputation maintenance float allowances by holding units. Recomputation should
be made in accordance with MCO 4442.3

1-30. The Reference Designation Index consists of those electrical and electronic parts to which reference may be
made in schematics, with applicable figure and index number for each reference designation.
1-31. REFERENCE DESIGNATION. This column consists of alphabetically and numerically arranged designations
which have been assigned to electrical and electronic parts in accordance with USA Standard Reference Designations for
Electrical and Electronics Parts and Equipments, Y32.16. Typical class designation letters are explained in table 1-3. Refer
to Y32.16 for a complete explanation of reference designations.
1-32. FIGURE AND INDEX NUMBER. This column contains the figure and index number for each reference designated
item listed. When a reference designated part has not been assigned an index number, the figure and index number of the
preceding part in the Maintenance Parts List is used with the letter "F" before and figure number, i.e., F7-6, to mean
"follows." The notation (Same as. . .) refers to a like assembly which has component designations listed.
