Procedure Steps:
a. Gain access to the damaged area (on the fuel tank.)
b. Drain and vent fuel tank. (Purge the tank using vehicle exhaust gases.)
c. Cut an aluminum patch large enough (to extend 1-2 inches over the hole edges.)
d. Attach the patch to the tank.
(1)
MIG or TIG weld the patch to the fuel tank.
(2)
Drill holes in plate and tank approximately one inch apart. Apply sealer to the patch and
rivet or screw the plate to the fuel tank.
e. Reinstall fuel tank, if removed.
Option 2: Fiberglass Fuel Tanks.
Limitations:
None if fiberglass repair kit is used.
