Wrapping improper or inadequate.

Protection afforded not compatible with node of shipment, type of storage, destination, or other environment.

Inadequate coverage or improper thickness

Improper and inadequate preparation.

Wrong type, method, and color.

Drying improper or inadequate.

Reserved for future use.

Group 1 - Preservation

No packaging applied.

Sealing defective (bags or containers).

Failed pressure retention, leak, or other test.

Container damaged or deteriorated.

Protection not compatible with mode of shipment, type of shipment, destination, or other environment.

Wrong level applied.

Containers or other packaging materials do not meet specifications (size, type, class, style, etc.)

Wrong quantity per unit package. (Chargeable as one defect per pack. Major if shortage--minor if overage.)

Reserved for future use.

Group 2 - Packing and Loading

Improper loading, blocking, bracing, tiedown, etc.

Stapling, nailing, strapping, and/or banding improper or inadequate.

Excessive weight of cube for containers.

Containers, boxes, crates, or pallets damaged or deteriorated.

Quality defect codes are applicable for the acceptance/rejection of material items inspected during various

storage/depot inspection or testing phases (i.e., on receipt, during audit).
